Definisi Umum

Delima (Punica granatum L.), sejak zaman kuno, telah menjadi tanaman yang dimanfaatkan oleh umat manusia; itu milik keluarga Punicaceae yang tumbuh di daerah tropis dan subtropis. Namanya berasal dari bahasa Latin Malum granatum , yang berarti “apel granular” ( El Barnossi et al., 2021 ). Pohon itu memiliki batang yang bengkok dan berduri, daun hijau memanjang dengan permukaan halus dan kelopak berwarna oranye atau merah tua. Itu beradaptasi dengan sangat baik terhadap kondisi iklim yang bervariasi; buahnya berbentuk bulat dengan diameter 6-12 cm. Warna kulit delima bervariasi dari kuning, hijau, dan merah muda, yang pada gilirannya dapat berubah menjadi merah pekat dan ungu tua ( Holland et al., 2009 ). Menurut Fawole & Opara (2013) , bagian yang dapat dimakan terdiri dari 50% dari total berat dan 50% sisanya sesuai dengan kulitnya. Bagian yang dapat dimakan terdiri dari sari buah (78% b/b) dan biji (22% b/b).

Kandungan

Pada buah delima terdapat kandungan elagitanin asam ellagic (termasuk punicalagin), asam punicic, flavonoid, antosianidin, antosianin, flavonol dan flavon estrogenik. (Faradisa & Fakhruddin, 2021).

Khasiat

Delima telah banyak digunakan dalam pengobatan tradisional seperti pengobatan diare, disentri, wasir, parasit usus, sakit tenggorokan, diabetes, epistaksis, dan gatal-gatal vagina dan diyakini tonik untuk jantung. Selain itu, baru-baru ini telah digunakan dalam pengobatan berbagai penyakit termasuk diabetes, penyakit Alzheimer, kanker, arthritis, infertilitas pria, obesitas, dan gangguan kardiovaskular (Eghbali et al. 2021).

Cara Pengolahan

kulit dari buah delima dapat di olah menjadi teh herbal dengan cara sebagai berikut :

  1. Kulit delima merah dikeringkan
  2. Kemudian dipotong kecil-kecil 
  3. Digerus dengan menggunakan blender agar mendapatkan bubuk kulit delima merah. 
  4. Sebagian bubuk kulit delima merah yang telah diperoleh diseduh dengan air mendidih 100° C.

General Definition

Pomegranate (Punica granatum L.), since ancient times, has been a plant utilized by humans; it belongs to the Punicaceae family that grows in tropical and subtropical regions. Its name comes from the Latin Malum granatum, which means “granular apple” (El Barnossi et al., 2021). The tree has a crooked and thorny stem, elongated green leaves with a smooth surface, and orange or dark red petals. It adapts very well to varying climatic conditions; the fruit is round with a diameter of 6-12 cm. The pomegranate skin color ranges from yellow, green, and pink, which in turn can change to deep red and dark purple (Holland et al., 2009). According to Fawole & Opara (2013), the edible part makes up 50% of the total weight and the remaining 50% corresponds to the skin. The edible part consists of the juice (78% w/w) and seeds (22% w/w).

Content

Pomegranate contains ellagitannin, ellagic acid (including punicalagin), punicic acid, flavonoids, anthocyanidins, anthocyanins, flavonols, and estrogenic flavones. (Faradisa & Fakhruddin, 2021).

Benefits

Pomegranate has been widely used in traditional medicine for treating diarrhea, dysentery, hemorrhoids, intestinal parasites, sore throat, diabetes, epistaxis, and vaginal itching, and is believed to be a tonic for the heart. In addition, it has recently been used in the treatment of various diseases including diabetes, Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, arthritis, male infertility, obesity, and cardiovascular disorders (Eghbali et al. 2021).

Processing Method

The skin of the pomegranate fruit can be processed into herbal tea as follows:

  1. The red pomegranate skin is dried

2. Then cut into small pieces

3. Ground using a blender to obtain red pomegranate skin powder

4. Some of the obtained red pomegranate skin powder is brewed with boiling water at 100° C.
